Vintage Rally Car Championship Rules for 2012

The Vintage Rally Car Championship is an overlay series. VRCC uses the rules of the event sanctioning organization and the event's supplemental regulations. To that, we add one simple rule: the car must be of a model year prior to 1990. For 2012, we are eliminating the membership requirement. Also for 2012, we are eliminating hill climbs.

VRCC Classes

In addition to being entered in a sanctioned and/or event class, each VRCC car will compete in one of six VRCC classes. Drivers and co-drivers may switch cars and sanction classes throughout the season, but they may not combine points from different VRCC classes.

P6:   Production, stock, classic or historic with model years prior to 1970

M6:  Modified, open, light, G2, G5, etc. with model years prior to 1970

P7:   Production, stock, classic or historic with model years 1970 thru 1979

M7:  Modified, open, light, G2, G5, etc. with model years 1970 thru 1979

P8:   Production, stock, classic or historic with model years 1980 thru 1989

M8:  Modified, open, light, G2, G5, etc. with model years 1980 thru 1989

VRCC Points

Points for VRCC drivers and co-drivers will be earned using the following formula.

· One point for starting a regional rally

· One additional point for finishing the regional rally

· One additional point for each car you beat in your class

· Targa Newfoundland will be worth double regional points

. National rallies will be scored as the associated regional rallies

Following the posting of the official results by the event organizers, the driver or co-driver should report their results to VRCC via email. The official VRCC scoreboard will be updated periodically.

If an event lists two or more class systems in their official results, the sanctioning body class will have priority over the event class, and event class will have priority over a regional series class. The VRCC class is not used to determine points for cars beaten.  Cars beaten includes cars that did not finish (DNF) the rally and includes cars built after 1989.

Official Vintage Rally Car Championship decals are available, in three sizes, for purchase at our cost. Placement of the decals on your car is optional, but the location should comply with event and sanctioning organization rules regarding vehicle graphics. VRCC Regions

For VRCC purposes, sanctioned rallies in the United States and Canada have been grouped into three regions, East, Central, and West. There is no distinction as to which country hosts the rally, nor as to which sanctioning organization is used. Regional champions will have accumulated the most points in their VRCC class and VRCC region throughout the calendar year. The North American Championship is open to all VRCC participants who have earned two or more points in each of the three regions. Please see the Events page for the region assigned to each event.
